PLANETARIUM DEVOTES PROGRAM TO ALBERT EINSTEIN
His face is recognized around the world. People with practically no science background at all can recite his most famous formula. His name was Albert Einstein, and his vision of the universe would change the way we look at the world - forever.
However, while most people can tell you "E=mc2," few can tell you what that really means. And while we all recognize the face of the scientist Albert Einstein, few people know the story of the man. That is why the Morehead Planetarium is especially pleased to present THE EINSTEIN REPORT, a brand new planetarium show designed to look at the man behind the Theory of Relativity.
Written by Air Force Captain Dan Yinger, THE EINSTEIN REPORT looks at Einstein's life, his theories, and how his work affected the way we look at the universe. But far from being a dry, academic look at Einstein's theories, THE EINSTEIN REPORT is filled with warm personal stories of Einstein the man and lighthearted explanations of his work. "Einstein was one of the greatest thinkers of our time," says Captain Yinger. "We try to show Albert Einstein as a person, someone who had to deal with the problems and issues of his time."
THE EINSTEIN REPORT opens on Tuesday, June 18, at 8:00 p.m., and starting Wednesday, June 19, the program will be offered three times a day (at 1:00, 3:00, and 8:00 p.m.), seven days a week. THE EINSTEIN REPORT is the star of the Morehead Planetarium's summer lineup, which includes two films, two planetarium shows, and two special planetarium shows just for children.
Starting June 19, the Planetarium's summer schedule will be: THE EINSTEIN REPORT at 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. daily; the film SEASONS at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. daily (except Friday at 7:00 p.m.); the film TO FLY at 4:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays; the live planetarium show SKY RAMBLES at 7:00 p.m.; and two very special children's planetarium shows: STAR TALES at 11:00 a.m. on Thursdays and Saturdays, and THE DINOSAUR DISASTER at 11:00 a.m. on Fridays. The summer schedule will end September 9. For recorded show information, call (919) 962-1236.
